The Aerospace Corporation is a private, nonprofit corporation created in 1960 under the laws of the state of California. The purposes of the corporation are exclusively scientific: to provide research, development, and advisory services. Aerospace operates a Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) for the Department of Defense (DOD). The corporation's primary customer is the Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) of Air Force Space Command, although work is performed for other agencies, international organizations, and governments in the national interest.
