The Engineering Team at TCGplayer creates and maintains a suite of products in support of our role as the leading online marketplace for trading card games and collectibles. Who You Are
We are looking for a Director to lead our Data Services, Data Warehouse, and Analytics teams. You will advance our data layer to support the growth of our systems and customer base. These teams will increase scalability of our numerous platforms, allowing us to support the massive growth of our marketplace as we add new verticals, new sellers, and new hobbyists around the world.

The Impact You Will Make Here
- Lead and grow geographically distributed engineering scrum teams that focus on developing, upgrading, scaling and advancing our data services and platforms
- Set clear, measurable goals for your teams and foster a culture of continuous engineering improvement
- Partner with marketing, sales, product leaders, other engineering and CX teams to discover insights that will drive business impact
- Collaborate with stakeholders, product leaders, and other engineering teams to manage roadmaps, backlogs, and releases
- Assist the Chief Technology Officer, Vice President of Engineering, Director of Engineering, and other company leaders with research and guidance for technical direction to incorporate into general business strategies
- Support activities to meet business needs in a timely and cost effective manner by ensuring the right things get done at the right time
What You Bring to the Team
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field (or 7 years practical coding experience)
- 10 years of Leadership experience (engineering manager, tech lead, etc.)
- Experience managing and leading Software Development Managers, growing them individually and as a team by leading by example, aligning focus, and executing on commitments
- Working knowledge of numerous Data Storage technologies (e.g., RDBMS, MongoDB, Elasticsearch and Cloud Data Warehouses)
- Experience with contracted efforts and running contractors
- Experience with Modern Data Stack implementation and methodologies including ELT, Snowflake, dbt, and Tableau
- Must have excellent project management skills in an Agile environment
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
You’ll Go Beyond If You Have
- Experience working with or leading Analytics teams
- Have good understanding of Web Services & Microservices Architecture
- Experience with New Relic, Scalyr, and Grafana to guide development of meaningful dashboards, logging, and alerts
- You enjoy leading, managing and hiring talented engineers
- Experience using an interactive process such as SCRUM to deliver engineering projects and project artifacts
- You have a real passion for innovation

Compensation
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected in the range below.
$150,000 - $210,000
Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
