We are looking for an Automation Engineer, Technical Lead Manager to join our IT Operations team at Cruise! Looking for a Technical Lead Manager that will achieve results in engineering through a balance of highly technical individual work and by managing a small team of Individual Contributors and to deliver automated solutions for software processes and data management/processes. As an Automation Engineer Technical Lead Manager, you will have to work closely with other teams to help discover and eliminate problems by gathering requirements and implementing process automation. This role will report to the Senior Manager of IT Operations.
As a Automation Engineer Technical Lead Manager you will:
Primary focus for this engineer will be creating reporting data lakes for the following: Asset Inventory, Active Directory, Google Meets, Jira, Confluence, Oomnitza and other tools within the IT Operations team.
Search and understand metadata about various data sources and metrics to quickly familiarize yourself with new data sets.
Create automation tools needed and take on a list of projects for efficiency improvements with the software tools the IT Operations team uses to help the IT Operations team scale with the company.
Create and participate in structured construction, automation, debugging, and implementation activities, ensuring architectural and operational requirements and best practices are met; follow industry and department standards for change and incident management while resolving frequently encountered technical issues and monitoring systems capacity; contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by maintaining automation code created by the team, regularly reviewing processes, tools and practices and identifying opportunities to drive efficiency and scale.
Provide input and assist with evaluation of new technologies and contribute to the design, lifecycle management, and total cost of ownership of services.
Contribute to research and proof-of-concept initiatives for new technologies and assist with code review and design review, writes, organizes, and maintains code based on designs with guidance, delivers high-performance, scalable, repeatable, and secure deliverables.
Establish collaborative relationships with IT Operations team members, business partners, data analysts, and other engineers and support the development of automation templates that can be leveraged by compliance partners; drive self-sufficiency through ongoing coaching, training, and mentorship with partners
Contribute to, and maintain a positive team culture by demonstrating behaviors consistent with Cruise values.
Managing contractors/contractor relationships and full-time employees.
Mentoring to junior engineers on industry coding standards and practices.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business analytics, data science or related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of 6 years of Engineering experience required.
5+ years of analytic experience working with and manipulating large datasets and driving projects through the agile development lifecycle; experience must include working with various data storage platforms (ie Postgres/SQL), at least one scripting language for data analysis (Python), experience with SQL, familiarity with collaborative planning and defect tracking through GitHub, and the ability to adapt workflows and drive efficiencies.
Ability to handle full time employees and contractors/contractor relationships.
Experience in mentoring and developing people is a plus.
Ability to navigate both strategic and tactical client needs while ensuring compliance with the law and industry best practices.
Ability to facilitate meetings, resolve conflict, build consensus, establish rapport and collaborate effectively, internally and externally, across all levels of an organization.
Analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to translate requirements and guidance into executable strategies, leverage data to influence decisions, identify risks and improvement opportunities, and distill complex issues into actionable plans.
Highly organized with the ability to independently adapt, prioritize and successfully handle multiple tasks or projects in response to changing, ambiguous or competing priorities.
Ability to apply discretion and sensitivity while working with confidential information.
Ability to develop effective and collaborative relationships with key IT and IT Operations leaders in order to drive accountability, instill confidence, and influence outcomes across IT Operations.
Demonstrated ability to interpret requirements and align deliverables with strategic intent.
The salary range for this position is $152,800 - 224,600. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
